How does Coaching work?

Life Coaching uses a series of tools and techniques that will help you to:

  • Clarify what you want from life
  • Set yourself effective goals (Smart goals!)
  • Monitor your progress on your journey of change
  • Stay focused and challenged
  • Stick to your commitments
  • Continually reassess and re-examine your ideas, plans and strategies
  • Identify your life values

A Life Coach is a professional with only you and your goals in mind. They can help you to develop self-insight and self-awareness which can allow you to confidently identify your personal values and desires. A Life Coach will help you to develop your dreams and aspirations and then take positive action towards them. This will involve structured goals and realistic action plans.

A Life Coach will also help you to find your own solutions to any issues you might be facing by supporting you to learn what choices and actions are available. The role of the Life Coach is to offer you guidance and encouragement, not absolute answers to your problems.

The first session with a life coach begins with a review of the situation your life. Together you will complete a series of questionnaires that will help define where you are in life, what needs sorting out and what you want to get out of the coaching experience. These questions will open up your mind and get you thinking about yourself in a way that is probably new to you. They are meant to take you to the root of the issues, which is sometimes buried beneath a lot of hang-ups, insecurities and guilt.

After the initial session we will take some time to establish which areas of your life could benefit from changes. We will then review where you are now in relation to the goal and tackle any obstacles that may be blocking the way. Then we will work together to set realistic and achievable goals and drive you forward to achieve a more balanced, fulfilled and happy life. Simple right?

"You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully."
